It's all about supporting charities...

The raft race is great fun and the whole community looks forward to it...

...but it is also a great way of raising funds for the Portishead Lifeboat and various other local charities....

Call for charities...

Whilst the Lifeboat is a major beneficiary of the raft race funds (as it has traditionally been a Lifeboat event), we are supporting other local charities with funds raised by the 2009 Raft Race.

The North Somerset Fibromyalgia Support Group  is run entirely by volunteers who have fibromyalgia which is a chronic condition of widespread pain and profound fatigue. The actual cause of fibromyalgia has not yet been found.

At the Jessie May Trust we provide a free Palliative Care Service for children and young people who are not expected to live beyond nineteen years. We work in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.
