This year, we needed to increase the raft entry fees for the first time since 2009 due to the rising cost of holding the event. From 2019, the raft entry categories are shown in the table below. There are a lot more Prize categories than this; see the Prizes and Results page for details. We are asking all teams to commit to raising a minimum of £100 from raft sponsorship. There is no distinction between male, female or mixed teams, in either the Junior or Senior categories. Please note that, as we are a volunteer organisation raising funds for local good causes, the entry fee is non-refundable.
With the generous sponsorship of the Lakeside Café, Portishead Raft Race can offer match-funding prizes for teams who are from, or wholly raising funds for, community organisations. These can include Scouts, Guides, sports clubs, youth clubs, schools and any other non-commercial or voluntary groups working for the good of the community in and around North Somerset or Bristol.
The fastest raft team on the day in this category (whether a Junior or Senior Team, and in any heat, semi or final) will receive up to a maximum of £250 to match their fundraising efforts. The second fastest team in this category will receive up to £150 match funding, and the third fastest £100. Your team must be fundraising for a community organisation or local charity to enter this special category. Entering this category does not add anything to the basic entry fee for a Junior or Senior team.
The fastest team on the day from a Pub will receive a special prize. The time can be from any race, whether a heat, semi or final. You will also have 12 months bragging rights over any other Pub teams! Be sure to enter the name of the Pub in the ‘Organisation’ field on the entry form. The Pub does not have to be in the town of Portishead. Entry to the Pub category does not add anything to the basic entry fee for a Senior team.
